Well, it's Sunday y'all. Sunday marks the beginning of a new pregnancy week.
In other words, I'll be bloggin like nobody's business every Sunday. Don't worry, you don't have to follow me. I'm just doing this for two reasons:
1) to keep up with my pregnancy because after little babe comes, the memories fade.
2) to keep me busy with a hobby. As if I actually have time for that considering there's a baby outside of my womb bobbling around all day.
Sooooo with all of that said, I'll tell ya how I've really been feeling.
First of all, waiting until 12 weeks to tell peeps I'm pregz was making me borderline cray cray. We wanted to make sure we heard the heartbeat before sharing the news.
This pregnancy so far has been incredibly different than when I was pregnant with Abs. With Abigail I was throwing up (sorry if you're a visual learner) 1-3 times a day until I was 13 weeks. I also had a nose bleed almost every day. (Again, sorry if you're a visual learner) With this little muchacho, I've just been nauseous most of the time with migraines pretty frequently. I have gotten sick multiple times, but nothing like with my dear Abbie. (get it?)
If we're gonna be real here, I'll have to share with you that I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I'm nervous because, c'mon now, we're not the richest people in the world. Josh is a tutor all while going to school full time, and I'm a stay at home mommy. Money aint growin on trees if ya know what I mean.
We moved from a one-bed apartment downstairs to a two-bed apartment at the end of July. I was so excited to have a nursery for Abigail and there actually be room in our home! Our living room finally wasn't consumed with a baby swing, a bouncer, a jumper, a box of toys, and a play mat! We got Abigail's room all ready....a week later we find out momma is pregnant! What in the world. Good timing, am I right? Wrongo. At the time I was nannying for a family with four children. So a week after finding out I was pregnant, the family I work(ed) for decided they no longer needed me. The dad was going to work from home and keep the kids. This was really just terrific news. Long story short: The mom had this planned all along and never warned me. When I texted her to ask her when I was working next, she ignored me for 3 days. After giving her the benefit of the doubt, assuming maybe my text messages weren't going through, she finally responded and said there was no sense to have a nanny when her husband can do it for free. It was unfortunate because not only did she know that I have a family I'm trying to help provide for, but I had a baby in my belly (which she didn't know about). And although the timing in all of this seemed unpleasant, I still know and trust that God's ways are higher. (Read Isaiah 55 when you get a chance)
We have been praying since the day we decided to come to Gordon-Conwell to stay debt-free. So far, God has really pulled through for us. I could tell you countless number of ways we've been financially blessed all at the exact time it was needed, but truly if you believe that God is your Provider, you will see this in your own life.
As for this time period now, we still remain debt-free however, we don't know when we may need to take out a loan. Basically, if you look at our measly little Scion XA (that I'm ever so grateful for mom and dad!), it's not typically what you'd consider a "family car." Our passenger seat is pushed so far forward that my knees scrape across the glove compartment. Two car seats are just not gonna work out for poor Betsy. I love Betsy. She's been so good to me! We also need a double stroller, a crib, a new carseat (if it's a boy), and so on.
I say all of this to tell you that we faithfully believe that God will provide for us in the midst of this chaos. We never want to become so stressed that our baby becomes an "issue." So, we go on joyfully in prayer!
The day I bought the pregnancy tests, I told my best girlfriend (shout out to ya Casy girl! I luh yew!) that I would be so excited for whenever I were to get pregnant because it would mean that we would HAVE to trust God because we are so needy. When I found out I was pregnant, I of course told her and said how overwhelmed I was with the things we need that we don't really have the means to get. And she responded with, "Wellllllll you DID say you were excited to be pregnant because you'd get to see God work in all of this!" And dangit she was right!
Don't get me wrong- we really are SO thrilled to have another babe! Writing this out makes me sit with the truth that God takes care of His children. It reminds me of this verse:
"As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God!" Psalm 40:17
How far along? 12 weeks. Almost finished with first trimester. Can I get an AMEN.
Total weight gain/loss: -4 lbs. Believe me, mama is eating. Josh an testify to the madness. Speaking of, I'm really craving Chipotle right now.
Maternity clothes? Technically no...but they are super comfy. So, sometimes :)
Stretch marks? Uh-uh
Sleep: Of course Abigail is sleeping through the night and I wake up to go potty. Mostly sleep!
Best moment this week: Hearing our baby's heartbeat!
Have you told family and friends: You know it, sista.
Miss anything: Feta cheese on my greek salad. Boo.
Movement: Not yet!
Food cravings: Chipotle. This is not a joke. Actually...funny story. We went in the other day and said, "I wonder if they recognize us." Because there have been days where we've gone in (and were just there the day before) embarrassed because it was the same crew working. Anyway, after we sat down, the manager came by and handed us a card and said, "Hey guys. Since you're such frequent customers...here's a free meal on us." Then he gave us a card with a code on it to log in and he said the more we log in, the more free meals we get. haha! HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW I'M PREGNANT. HALLELUJAH.
Anything making you sick: Sonic put onions on my burger the other day. I gagged 4 times. Although this would happen even if I weren't pregnant. Also, when I give Abs turkey lunch meat. I threw up the other day from the smell. The poor girl was so confused.
Have you started to show yet: I can definitely tell my body is changing!
Gender Prediction: It was girl, now we're thinking boy!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? Innybutton
Wedding rings on or off: On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy. But sometimes I'm a crank because I'm tired. Nursing a baby while nourishing another baby is taking all of the energy out of me. Mama. Is. Tired.
Funny story #2: Today at church, there was a couple talking to us. The husband had just found out that I was expecting. So babies were the topic. When his wife walked up, the husband was asking us how many children we want. When Josh said I want 6 (and that I'm crazy), the wife chimed in and said, "Well, you say that now that you only have one child that's really cute!" And the husband said, "Honey, she's pregnant with another!" We're well on our way to six. :) You just wait, Josh.
